Pentecost Message from Eastern Rite Catholic Filipinos

Again, i like to say that this Blogspot Eastern Rite Catholic Filipino is using the Julian Paschalion so the celebration of Pentecost, on which we commemorate the descend of the Holy Spirit to the Most Blessed Virgin Theotokos and Mother Mary and the Apostles, it also the commemoration of the Birth of the Church, at the same time the Eastern Rite Catholic Filipinos have reach one year of giving Updates and disseminating Information to our Brethren Latin Rite Filipinos about Eastern Rite Catholic Churches which until know are unknown. On this Pentecost the Church begin and have sprung many Branches, different Rites but in Union of the One Church of our Lord Jesus Christ the Catholic Church


We also pray, that other Church also established by our Lord Jesus Christ through the Apostles who have since been separated into us from Religious or Political circumstances, will be soon united to the one Church instituted by God, the Church which was built upon the Rock of St. Peter and that the Gates of Hades will never prevail it, look at how the Church has survived for 1979 Years


On this Pentecost Sunday, which is coming next Sunday and have ended last Sunday in the Gregorian Calendar may the Holy Spirit guide us and be our Protector. And by the grace and mercy of God, he gave us more Blessings to continue this Blog, with the intercession from the Blessed Virgin Theotokos. Amin

In your Latin Eyes only :P

Eastern Catholic have much to offer US Church, Cardinal say to the Bishop

I do not like to make any comment, but the Statement given by His Eminence Leonardo Sandri, the Prefect of the Eastern Catholic Church, is quite disturbing. Reminding me that Once upon a time, a Latin rite Hierarch show his Bull headed attitude to a Greek Catholic Priest which cause Major Schism in the Americas in the 19th Century. By the way the Prefect of this Sacred Congregation is not even a Eastern Catholic, but a Latin Rite, so as to give you a hint on him. Here is the following quotations of his Address to the Bishop

‎"The cardinal (Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches) urged care in helping young people discern their vocation, "maintaining formation programs, integrating immigrant priests (and) embracing celibacy in respect of the ecclesial context" of the United States where mandatory celibacy is the general rule for priests."

This one gave me the creeps. It seems the Cardinal forget that Eastern Rite Catholic Churches has a unbroken Tradition of Married Priesthood. He also does not forget Married Eastern Catholics are the reason why Archbishop John Ireland refused to recognized Alexis Toth on ministering Greek Catholics is the reason he is a Married Priest. Let us not forget the Ea Semper and Cum data fuerit, which have restrained Celibacy in the Priesthood, resulting to a Schism lead by Msgr. Orestes Chornock. Also, in the Latin Rite, Married Priest also exist, namely in the Anglican Use Personal Ordinariates, though Latin rite holds the Tradition of maintaining Celibate Priests

As usual, this Comment have produced Opinions from Eastern Catholics and even Orthodox as well, so here is the other Article which i see, has prove that once again  the likes of Archbishop John Ireland and Latin Rite supremacist are now making their presence felt:

Honestly i have goosebumps every time i post this Picture. The same People who have forced Alexis Toth on jumping to Orthodoxy are the same People telling Eastern Catholics to do the same. You want Union, sorry to say but Thanks but no Thanks at all. This is the price of becoming a Eastern Catholic, its either you get persecuted by not just the Orthodox but their Brethren Latin Catholic as well

Its been a very awhile since i Posted here, so i Greet all of our Dearly beloved readers a Belated Happy Pascha of our Lord's Resurrection. Indeed the Lord has risen, by his Death he Trampled Death by itself, and granting Life on those who are in their Grave awaiting the Redemption the Scriptures has been prophesied.


As we celebrate the the Season of Easter, we also going to celebrate a Year since this Blog was created to promote our Advocacy of making known the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches. Beginning on each Liturgical Season in the Eastern Rite, we are going to make Messages like this for our Readers to post our Reflection too, and now this is the Joyous Season of Pascha, i hope that the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is a guide for us to enrich our Christian lives, that even though he suffered and endured in his Passion, in the end he came out Glorious. Holy Week 2012: A Little Delay

For those who wonder why are we posting Posts related to Holy Week though might say we are Mistaken for Holy Week has just ended, well it has ended yes in the Gregorian Paschalion but the Julian Paschalion makes the Eastern Rite Holy Week advance of one week which is now being observed by Eastern Rite Orthodox and some Eastern Rite Catholics as well. So i say it this Week is the Great and Holy Week for our Eastern Christian brethren observing it in the Old Calendar

The very reason why we delay on Greeting everyone of a Happy Easter is we will give the necessary Salutation once the Night of the Great and Holy Saturday comes, the Night where the is going to be Held a Paschal Vigil in honour of the Risen Lord.

More Article will be posted, not just of our Eastern Rite Catholic brothers observing Holy Week right now, but other Eastern Rite Christians as well

Back again on our Endeavor and the Blogging of course

It took me days before i have post here again, i am busy doing things but it does not mean that i have forget everything. Now i am back again in full Action

For those who think that we are only posting Articles regarding the Eastern Rite Catholicism, without saying our Plan for having a Divine Liturgy of such in the Philippines. We know that our Endeavor is not a easy task at all even though some of the People who are interested in the Eastern Rite support the idea, i honestly believe that it is the help from the Clergy, namely those Liturgically minded ones who are also interested on the Liturgies of the East and even its Spirituality

I write this Article to serve as a Message for some of my brethren here in the Majority Latin Rite Roman Catholic Philippines, to know the other side of the Catholic truth and its Eastern lung United with the Holy Universal Pontiff and to gain support for our Advocacy on having a Eastern Rite Divine Liturgy here, by the grace and mercy of God and the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos we will continue to do our Work in promoting Eastern Rite here in the Philippines

Is this Blog just a Fan or a Promoter??!!!

In a short span of almost 10 Months, only 4 Months to go for this Blog Anniversary, there is one question i am still asking myself for a very long time since I, along side Mr. Jared Dale Combista of Verum Nocet and Gino Pastoriza Paradela of If the Fathers had Laptops, what is the Main purpose of our Endeavor at all??? Are we just Afficionados by being simple Fans or we are Promoters trying to propagate the Two Lungs of the Holy Mother Church, that of Catholic East as well with the Catholic West co-existing with one another

Even if our primary focus is Eastern Catholicism, which is in Communion with the Holy Father the Pope. Ever since we also posted Articles and post of other Eastern Rite Christian brethrens, namely the Orthodox Churches of the Byzantine in Communion with the Ecumenical Patriarch, the Miaphysites or the Oriental Orthodox Churches in Communion with the Coptic Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria, even the Assyrian Church of the East, formerly known as the Nestorians for we know that One day we can achieve that dream that ALL MIGHT BE ONE, as His Holiness Blessed Pope John Paul II stressed in his Papal Encylical Orientale Lumen and that all of our Filipino Latin Rite Roman Catholics might have learned about our brothers in different Churches, not just those within Western Christianity which includes the Protestants, the Fellowship Christians and even the Anglicans, this one we are making everyone know about EASTERN CHRISTIANITY, though our concentration is on Eastern Catholic Sui Iuris Churches

We have focus some Articles here on Church Politics, which i carelessly done in many times though i will refrained from making such Commentaries, instead even focusing on the Theological, Liturgical and the Devotional Tradition within the several Rites of the Catholic Church, namely the Byzantine; Antiochene; Syro-Oriental; Alexandrian and the Armenian Rite. It is our duty that our Catholic brothers and sisters might have a glimpse on the other side of Christianity and namely the Eastern side of the Catholic truth.

Let us leave everything in the Past, and Look unto the Future

Before this Month let may be Clarify the following regarding this very first Article that i post within this Year regarding the Rebuttal i made due to some Polemical attacks against our Eastern Catholics, namely our Byzantine Catholic brethrens in Europe accusing of Persecuting their Sister Orthodox Churches

For me, without Historical evidence or not, i have just lay my Thoughts without proofs to support it.Whether it is True, using the Past justifying the our acts in the Present or the near Future may not save our souls or guarantee everything at all. I am very Sorry if i have make a very harsh remarks on that Post of mine, but regardless of it, i juts take away the Silence though knowing i should not make that one because nobody win if Polemics is concern and throwing each Argument are useless at all.

When the King was born in Bethlehem, the Magi came from the East.

Having been led by a star from on High, they brought Him gifts.

The rule of his kingdom has come to an end.     

In the Byzantine Rite, the Liturgy states that there are 14,000 Holy Innocents being slain while the Syrian Rite list that there is a Estimated number of 64,000. The Coptic Rite raised that number to 144,000. The Holy Innocents are group of Infants being slaughtered upon the Orders by King Herod of Bethlehem to ensured that the Child, which is our Lord Jesus Christ, been foretold by the Magi will be also be Killed being his "rival" and assumed he is among the dead Children. The incident, like others in Matthew, is described as the fulfillment of a passage in the Old Testament read as prophecy, in this case a reading of Jeremiah: "Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, A voice was heard in Ramah, Weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children."

ERCF Statement this New Year's Eve

I have been silent for almost a Month, totally Silent. Now this is the proper time before the Year change from another New one to give a Statement, which as of now i am writing regarding some Polemical Attacks from some of our Brothers from the side of the Orthodoxy to our Brethrens in the Eastern Catholicism, namely our Byzantine Catholics brethren in Eastern Europe.

This is not a some short of a "Roller coaster ride" Message that will infuriate our Brothers in the Orthodox side, but rather defending our so called "Uniate" brothers and sisters from the snear of their attack and to persuade our brothers and sisters too in the Orthodoxy to be charitables as far as possible, no matter how true are their arguments being thrown at their Greek Catholic Counterparts

Remember the Holodomor!

On the 26th of November, Ukrainians, Catholics or Orthodox will light a candle remembering those who died during the days when Stalin neglected the agricultural sector in Ukraine and caused widespread hunger that killed 7-10 million Ukrainians in 1932-1933.

I would like you to pray for the souls of those who perished during the Holodomor. Please light a candle in memory of them. You may do it in your parishes, chapels or even your respective homes.

From the ERCF Admin and Contributors that may the souls of those who perished in the Great Ukrainian Famine of 1932-1933 rest in peace and may the Great Famine remain as a painful history not only in Ukraine, but also to the world.

In the Ukrainian diaspora, a Panikhida, a Requiem service is usually held to commemorate the Anniversary of the Holodomor in Canada and in the United States. For over the years, Ukrainians in Canada and in the US remembered this horrible event and built monuments to remember their loved ones who died in the Great Famine in 1932-1933.

Patriarch Kirill's 65th Birthday

On the 20th of November, His Holiness the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus' celebrated his 65th birthday with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Moscow. He is celebrating the Liturgy with the Patriarch of Georgia Ilia I, the Metropolitan of Polish Orthodox Church Sawa, and the other metropolitans and bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church.


From the ERCF Moderator and its contributors, may God grant His Holiness the Patriarch many years! May his dream of meeting with the Pope of Rome and the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church come true!

NOTE: This is a blog that promotes the Eastern liturgy, its theology and its spirituality that has been handed from the time when the Churches of Rome and Constantinople are united before the Great Schism in 1054. Although this is a blog that promotes the awareness of our Eastern brothers, bear in mind that we must acknowledge our Orthodox brothers and their culture here and abroad, never to despise for we are equal in the eyes of God yesterday, now and forever.

St. Gregory the Dialogist, or much popularly known as Pope St. Gregory of the Great, is known to be Pope of Rome, was Pope from 590 to 604 for more than 14 years. he is known for his Dialogues, making him to be called the Dialogist and it is attributed for compiling the Liturgy use by the Eastern Catholics of the Byzantine Rite during Great Lent, which is the Liturgy of the Pre Sanctified.

Another Major Archiepiscopate pleading to become a Patriarchate!!!

Besides the Ukrainian Greek Catholic who has been flooding the Vatican for almost 4 decades of Petition to have themselves elevated in the Patriarchate. I also did not put away this another pleading which has been created by another largest Sui Iuris Eastern Catholic Church, which is the Syro Malabar Catholic, elevated into a Major Archiepiscopate in 1992, has been making enormous attempts just like the Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Rome to be elevated into a Patruarchate. Why we need a Patriarchate???

While reading this, one of the things that reminds me is how the Vatican makes a conflict regarding the Self Government of the Sui Iuris Self Governing Eastern Catholic Churches. Yes they are very supportive to the Liturgical Tradition, Theological Patrimony and the different Popular forms of Piety. But the main thing is the Self Autonomy which is in question in here??!!! Well the situations of the Major Archiepiscopal Churches like the Eastern Catholic Patriarchates are indeed Self Governing in many aspects, though not all, cause they are all under the Communion and the Juridical Authority, if ever he asserts this if he Presides in Charity, of the Holy Father the Pope, the Holy Ecumenical Pontiff of Rome.

A Explanation regarding Eastern Catholic Churches and who Eastern Catholics are

Rev. Fr. Hieromonk Maximos Davies explaining what are the Eastern Catholic Churches and who are this  Eastern Catholics as he was interview by Madame Catherine Alexander of the Blogspot  Your Word from the Wise. Here are the Questions being asked:

1. Some people say Eastern Catholics are Roman Catholics of an Eastern rite, some say they are Orthodox Christians who are currently in communion with Rome, and some say Eastern Catholics are primarily a bridge of unity between East and West. I'd like to discuss each of these three positions with you.

2. I'd like to discuss the title, "Roman Catholics of an Eastern rite." The emphasis is that they're Catholic first, and believe all things that the Roman Catholic Church believes, while living out that faith through a different liturgical and devotional framework. Will you discuss what it means to be an Eastern Catholic in light of this title?

3. Some people say that Eastern Catholics are Orthodox Christians in communion with Rome as a means of asserting the Eastern Catholic Churches' independence from Rome and their unity with Orthodoxy, especially in the areas of history, theology, and spirituality. A Clarification

Regarding this Issue that i have posted last Month of  last June about my plans concerning a  Divine Liturgy of the Eastern Catholic Churches under the Byzantine Rite (Either it is Romanian, Melkite or Ukrainian Catholic Church) to be celebrated here in the Philippines, under the light of the Truth i will like to Clarified and make a OFFICIAL APOLOGY on the points i have just posted in my recent article of mine here:

First of all, i did not mean to Scandalized and to put into a bad light the Philippine Orthodox Exarchate because of my Impression to them. I was reminded that besides this Filipinos and some Greeks under the Ecumenical Patriarchate, there also Serbian, Russian, Ukrainian and some Arab Orthodox who are also Attending the Divine Liturgies there. Knowing that i have made some faults regarding this Article i have write,  I OFFER MY SINCERE APOLOGY, WITH A HUMBLE AND CONTRITE HEART, to the Philippine Orthodox Exarchate of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to the Episcopal Vicar and Parish Priest, and the Faithful most of all, knowing it will have a very bad effect upon their relationship with the dominant Latin Rite Roman Catholic Population. And it is for the reason of knowing that i am starting to Observe their Divine Liturgies and Services in a regular basis, of which i will be there mingling with the People i accused here of "Very Hostile" tendencies, which i realized is truly unfounded and a false impression to them. Eastern Catholic Study of the Eastern Rite Catholic Filipinos

Ever since we start, alongside my comrades Gino Pastoriza Paradela and Jared Dale Combista, this Blog which composed of the Triplet sites with the Fan Page and the Closed Group (which you can click here and and also here, which is the CLOSED Group, which means Admin are the ones who will admitt People from this FB Group), we aim on having a Community for Eastern Catholics, though i know that they have Transient nature, which means not all of the Eastern Catholics here are not living permanently, or they are being absorbed to the Majority Roman Rite. Most of the Eastern Catholics here are composed by the Syro Malabar Catholics, which form the majority, and have celebrated Holy Qurbana here in 2009, some of the pictures are taken from this Blog and at the same time most of their Priest are being sent here to study, many of them become Incardinated here and does have a Biritual Faculty to celebrate the Roman Rite Holy Mass, along with them are small groups of Syro Malankara and Maronites, though i have to confirmed it once i research on these group of People except for the Syro Malabar comunity, seeing that they are a Visible one

Knowing for the fact of planning a Divine Liturgy Eastern Catholic Byzantine Rite will be opposed here, andi still studying together with conversing with Friends abroad the circumstances about it, having they have given me necessary points to remind of what will i do in forming this group of people expressing of having a Eastern Catholic community. First, if ever there is a Community here, then contact them and second, instead of easily established a Filipino Eastern Catholic Community, we must first have a Study Group that will disseminate all information regarding Eastern Catholic Churches, and presiding services taken from the Typika, a book of daily office in the Byzantine Rite. As of now we have 20 People who have expressed support on this Study Group, and later on we could send letters on respective nearby Eastern Catholic ecclesiastical territory requesting for Priest to celebrate Divine Liturgy here, though we have not yet make any plans to do so, knowing the uproar that will make among the Latin Rite Hierarchs and the Eastern Orthodox Community, of which i am conversing privately with my confidants to discuss circumstances that will play around it.

Right now, we have set up a " Study Group Community" here in this Closed Group Eastern Rite Catholic Filipinos, Twin Group of the Blog and the Fan Page along with my Comrade Admins. i am already making a Contact from Eastern Catholic Clergies abroad, mostly Ukrainian Greek Catholic, Romanian Greek Catholic, Melkite Greek Catholic and some Ruthenian Greek Catholics. Though it is not certain if we will have planned Divine Liturgy according here, we are progressing very slowly, with little success. But i am have to make a foresight on it,  studying every circumstances regarding this plan of mine and some confidants
