Suriyani Qurbana, Traditional Syro Malabar Divine Liturgy

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Unlike other posts here of the Holy Qurbana of Addai and Mari, this one is the Traditional Holy Qurbana of the Syro Malabar Catholics prior to 1962. The Suriyani Qurbana is being Chanted not just in Syriac, the Liturgical Language of Eastern Churches under the Antiochian and Syro-Oriental Rite. This Divine Liturgy of East Syrian source was restored by His Holiness Pope Pius XII in 1957. This one is celebrated in 50:50 Formula, by which the Priest first is facing the People at the Liturgy of the Word but when the Eucharistic Liturgy and Anaphora comes, he will be Ad Orientem facing the Liturgical East. Malayalam was only used in the Suriyani Qurbana in 1962
